premeditated shootings

         Tom Peck, Photographer

For most people there is something primally familiar about a county fair.  Both exciting and scary. The sounds and smells and blurs of color are distinctly familiar, like no other event.

From the rides and screams, to the smell of the corn dogs and cotton candy.   There is also an inherent dark side; the swirling crowds, the

lurking carnies and the ubiquitious

mocking laughter of the fun House.

For several years  I’ve photographed the

California Mid State Fair.

In this series are images

that graphically capture

the essence of this unique

American classic.
